A while back in the history of my business, I used to do SEO work and was known as a lot of people's “SEO girl”
At a certain point I decided I didn't want to do done-for-you SEO work or be known as an SEO person, and instead started focusing on content strategy.
I still get a lot of questions and inquiries about SEO, so I decided to create this page with all my resources and recommendations for all things SEO.
On this page, you'll find all the things I've created about SEO, as well as my recommendations of who else to go to for SEO work and to learn even more about SEO.
Disclaimer: Tha'r be affiliate links on this here page.
I no longer offer SEO services, but if you want pro eyeballs on your site giving you guidance on your SEO, I recommend Brendan at SEO for the Rest of Us
With this deep dive, Brendan will do a thorough analysis of your whole site on every aspect of SEO that will move the needle, and then create an in-depth, totally custom 12 month strategy plan for you to follow to get real results.
That's one of the things that really sets Brendan apart from others in the SEO industry (and is super in line with my SEO philosophies, which is why he's my go to recommendation!). He doesn't give you things to do just for the sake of looking like he did a lot of work for you. He only focuses on needle-moving tasks that will get you real results (and are also not spammy and gross, which is also super common in the SEO industry).
Here's all the courses and infoproducts I've ever created about SEO.
My courses are all designed for bloggers, non-techies, and solopreneur-types, so they aren't super advanced or high-level. (If you want to go more in-depth or advanced, keep scrolling)
Because I was doing SEO for so long at the beginning of my business, I have a lot of really fantastic blog posts on the subject (if I do say so myself).
I still get messages from biz friends that they still reference some of them to this day.
Be confident that you're optimizing your posts for SEO the right way (and not wasting your time optimizing the wrong posts!)
Improving your on-site SEO is like laying the concrete foundations before building your dope theme park of SEOtastic content.
This ebook is an in-depth introduction to on-site SEO, from setting up your tech to optimizing your pages to tracking your basic analytics and avoiding penalties.
Lay the best possible foundations for your site's SEO now, get Google to love you later.
This Quick Step-by-Step Guide is designed to walk you through the process of optimizing your amazing content for SEO, without you having to become an SEO expert in the process.
Think of it as somewhere between a simple checklist and an in-depth ebook.
A slow site will have new visitors clicking back to Google before they even glimpse your epic content.
In this course, we'll diagnose and solve common basic pagespeed issues in not-super-technical ways (WordPress focused).
Create a blog content calendar based on your goals, and include SEOtastic posts that make sense with your goals and will draw in your ideal audience.
Keyword research is the most important part of your SEO strategy.
In this course, we'll go in-depth on the keyword research process, including strategy, which tools to use for any budget, and a step-by-step walkthrough of the process, so you can make sure your blog content is SEOtastic.
My SEO courses are lighter and more for the DIYer, but if you really want to go ham with SEO as a strategy for your business, I recommend learning from Brendan of SEO for the Rest of Us.
His philosophies about SEO are very like mine (not spammy or out of integrity, not about creating things that don't matter, only focused on things that move the needle).
As a disclaimer, I am an affiliate for Brendan's services and courses, but only because his whole approach to SEO is completely in line with mine, as are his values and way of doing business, and because I wholeheartedly believe in his work.
Backlink building was the one aspect of SEO I could never quite nail down. Probably because I learned from someone (not Brendan) who taught spammy outreach practices. I wish I'd taken this course instead.
This is the only course of Brendan's I've taken myself (so far), and I LOVE his approach to backlink building. No sending a million spammy emails asking for backlinks with no results.
Taking this course is what made me decide that Brendan was going to be my go-to person to refer to for all things SEO.
This is the big whopper. All Brendan's SEO courses, plus his membership community and lots of members-only content. I'm not a member personally, but this is the bundle I wish I'd found when I first started learning SEO (plus, it's a steal. I paid a lot more to learn SEO when I got started)
Brendan has lots of different courses that cover different aspects of SEO, too, and you can buy them individually if you don't want to splash out for the course bundle.
He's got The Need For PageSpeed 5-Day SEO Challenge, a Local SEO Masterclass, and several others.
If you want to stay on top of updates to the Google Algorithm, and want a deeeeeep understanding of how all of this works (and not just how to do it), look no further than Marie Haynes.
I don't know her personally, but when I was doing SEO, I followed her newsletter religiously, and it helped a lot in my client work during the turbulent YMYL updates in 2018.
